This study was to evaluate the shear bond strength of veneering ceramics to the casting Co-Cr alloy core, milling Co-Cr alloy core, and milling zirconia core. Three kinds of core system (StarLoy C for casting, Sintron for milling, and zirconia for milling) were used to prepare ceramic core-porcelain veneer. The specimen of main model core was made according to Schmitz-Schulmeyer method and 15 specimens were produced in each group. Duceram Kiss (DeguDent, Germany) was used as veneering ceramic in Co-Cr alloy and IPS e.max Ceram (Ivoclar, Lichtenstein) was used for zirconia. Shear bond strength was measured at a crosshead speed of 0.5 §®/min by using the universal testing machine (Z020, Zwick, Ulm, Germany). Fracture pattern was observed in the magnifying power of 15 by using a scanning electron microscope. Shear bond strength was analyzed in one-way ANOVA by using SPSS Ver. 12.0 (SPSS GmbH, Munich, Germany), and post test was performed in Duncan¡¯s multiple range test(¥á = 0.05)
The means shear-bond strength of Sintron group(28.26¡¾3.29) was significantly better than those of StarLoy C group(25.31¡¾3.33) and Ceramill Zirconia group(23.79¡¾43.39)(p£¾0.05). But a significant difference was not found between StarLoy C group and Ceramill Zirconia group. In terms of failure mode of specimens, all experimental groups showed combined failure mode including adhesive and cohesive failure.
